CHURCH PROFILE
First Baptist Church of Cambridge is a rural church of 78 active members with an average of 51 attending worship Sunday mornings. This Church, established in 1901, was established by a woman missionary. The church has grown, undergoing a major remodel in the late 1980's. A large part of the attendance and membership is tied to the town and immediate surrounding agrarian area.
Idaho and its rural communities are primarily conservative in their politics which is usually tied to their religious beliefs. The residents utilize the land and its bounty but not worshipping the earth. Neighbors help and support neighbors with little regard for the church they attend.
Our youth often grow-up and leave the area unless they can operate the family ranch or business. People moving to the area usually come to find a nice rural country life they can enjoy during their retirement. They usually blend with the community. People that have left the community try to return to raise children in the schools and open hearted, caring community that supported them.
Our congregation is a very experienced, mature church family that is reasonably open to change and new ideas. It is a praying church with active prayer chains and men's prayer breakfasts. It is an open, friendly church. The members are active in and supportive of the community and its activities, often providing service and hospitality. While the members are faithful with resources of both themselves and money they are aware of the limitations of both. Many are retired but continue to work.
Our need is for youth coming into the church and younger members to step into leadership and participation in the church. Our prayer is that the Lord will supply the area employment that will allow more youth to remain or move into the community to raise families. The youth that attend need Christian growth and teaching.
We are in need of a passionate, knowledgeable Bible teacher/preacher who is a strong spiritual leader.
